Francesco Marsiglia

Francesco Marsiglia has studied with Leone Magiera, Luciano Pavarotti, Raina Kabaivanska and Mirella Freni.

Born in Naples, he obtained a diploma in voice from Salerno Conservatory.

 He made a successful debut at the Palazzo Ducale in Venice as Cassio in Verdi’s Otello, a role he also performed on tour in Japan and at the Regio in Turin. His latest engagements include Edmondo in Manon Lescaut at Teatro Regio, Turin, at the Opera des Nations in Geneva, Don Ramiro in La Cenerentola at Rieti and in Bremen for the Reate Festival conducted by Fabio Biondi, Raffaele in Stiffelio at Teatro La Fenice in Venice and in Bilbao, Ferrando in Così fan tutte at Opera Giocosa, Savona and Teatro Sociale in Trento, Conte d’Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Alfredo in La Traviata in Florence, and Il Pescatore in Le Rossignol at the Stresa Festival..

He has sung Fernando in Il Furioso all’Isola di San Domingo in Bergamo, Savona, Modena, Piacenza and Ravenna; Belmonte in Die Entführung aus dem Serail at the Olimpico in Vicenza; Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni at the Festival Mozart in Turin, Teatro Sociale, Rovigo, Fortezza Priamar, Savona and Regio, Turin, where he also returned as Conte D’Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Alditrùf in La Donna Serpente; Tebaldo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi at the Royal Opera, Muscat, in a production by Arena di Verona, at Teatro La Fenice in Venice and at Stavanger (Norway) conducted by Fabio Biondi; Ulisse in Achille in Sciro at Teatro San Carlo, Naples.

He received acclaim for his interpretation of Beppe in Pagliacci at the Petruzzelli in Bari, in St Petersburg and at the San Carlo in Naples. Also in Naples, he was Clistene in L’Olimpiade and Giambarone in Don Trastullo. He sang Lord Arturo in Lucia di Lammermoor at Teatro Regio, Turin, La Fenice, Venice, Champs-Élysées, Paris and in Essen.

Other roles include Camillo in The Merry Widow at the Regio in Turin and the Vittorio Emanuele in Messina; Prunier in La Rondine at Teatro Comunale, Modena, Teatro del Giglio, Lucca and Toulon Opera; Nemorino in L’Elisir d’Amore at the Vittorio Emanuele, Messina; Ernesto in Don Pasquale in Toulon; Fenton in Falstaff at the Verdi, Salerno and the Marrucino, Chieti; Duca di Mantova in Rigoletto at Opera Giocosa, Savona; and Alfredo in La Traviata at Teatro Petruzzelli, Bari.

He sang in Iphigénee en Aulide at Rome Opera under the baton of Riccardo Muti.

Future engagements include Edmondo in Manon Lescaut at Teatro San Carlo, Naples, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni at Teatro Massimo Bellini, Catania, and Fenton in Falstaff, Conte d’Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Ferrando in Così fan tutte at Teatro Regio, Turin.
