A delicious parody of “Falstaff” by Giuseppe Verdi

[/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”small” position=”left” color=”#000000″][vc_column_text] A new chance to enjoy Indostaff, a kind of parody of Verdi’s Falstaff written in 1895 by Bologna-born composer Alfredo Testoni under the pseudonym of Tisento. It will be performed at 9 pm on Friday 10 November in the Council Chamber of Modena Town Hall as part of the “Modena Città del Belcanto” programme. The choice of location is very apt, since the work is set during the course of a stormy town council meeting (“indostaff” refers to a dialect expression for “trying to keep both sides happy”). The opera involves a large number of singers and extras, accompanied by a conventional chamber orchestra. The musical numbers “borrowed” from Verdi’s Falstaff were transcribed by former students of Composition from the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “O. Vecchi – A. Tonelli”. The main role will be sung by baritone Bruno Praticò, who teaches the Second Level Diploma Course in Opera Singing at the Istituto Musicale “Vecchi – Tonelli” in partnership with Raina Kabaivanska.
